HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT GOWN
- Skin vs. Shape – There comes a time when every woman asks herself, “Is this too much?” if you’re ever in doubt, you’ll be safe following this guideline: show skin or shape – not both.
- Illusion – Feeling pale? Skin not as taut as you’d like? See-through fabrics such as chiffon, georgette or mesh cover you, but still grab attention like bare skin.
- Shine – Nothing glams up an outfit like shine or sparkle – but keep in mind that reflective fabrics can make you appear larger, so wear them sparingly. Put them on places – near the face or cleavage, for example – you want to play up.
- Practice – Wearing a gown for the first time can make you surprisingly self-conscious. If you’re a long-dress novice, schedule some practice time before the big event. Put it on with the shoes you’ll be wearing and walk around your house, and practice sitting down.
- Spend Wisely – Evening wear is a luxury item and is priced accordingly. But even on a budget, you can still score a beautiful dress. If you’re looking for a versatile dress to use on several occasions, such as “the little black dress,” look for a dress with simple, clean lines, that can be dressed up with different accessories to match the occasion. And, of course, affordable gowns can be found for a fraction of the original cost at ARound Again!
